The main character – passive and sarcastic with a cynical attitude – Nakajo was once a nihilistic troublemaker before moving back to his hometown. He slowly began to loathe himself and shut everyone else out of his life including his own parents.

Nakajo is the heir to the Sanematsu family fortune. His father is a business tycoon/magnate whom forced his family to move out to the United States to expand their business. Nakajo resented this decision and rebelled against his family.

Now that Nakajo is back in his hometown, he aims to be his own person without his family’s expectations to weigh him down.

Motoko Yuki

Irritable, harsh, and blunt – Motoko didn’t seem to talk to anyone or have any friends until Nakajo saves her from the school bullies… This ultimately leads to Nakajo becoming the president of the Service Club with Motoko being the first member to join the club.

Her family struggling through a divorce has caused Motoko to become emotionally withdrawn after starting her 3rd year at Ibaraki Second High. Motoko eventually finds comfort in her friends in the Service Club who like to describe Motoko’s personality as ‘bittersweet’.

Tatsuya Sugita

Upbeat, loyal, and optimistic – Tatsuya has been Nakajo’s best friend since childhood and the only person to have kept in contact with Nakajo since he moved to the United States. Tatsuya is known as the most dependable guy in Class 2-D and is never seen without his partner is crime, Sumiko Tomori.

Tatsuya’s family also runs the local restaurant, Indigo – home to some of the best food in town. With his father recently becoming ill before the school year began, he was seen consistently working after school hours and weekends at Indigo until Miyako-Sensei and his older sister, Sachie Sugita force him to join the Service Club to focus on his studies.

Sumiko Tomori

Compassionate, amiable, and dilligent – Sumiko was an active member of the student council before joining the Service Club. Sumiko is polite, honest, and caring – she is highly ambitious about working towards her goal to work for the city one day, priding herself in helping others. Sumiko acts as the voice of reason when with the Service Club. It is rare not to see Sumiko without Tatsuya. Having been close friends since their childhood, the pair are nearly inseparable.

Sumiko has always been hard working and did whatever she could to help Tatsuya with his family struggles by helping out at Indigo as a part time job. Tatsuya feels that he does not deserve her help and that she could be doing bigger and better things, considering she was nearly elected as President of the school’s student council.

Daisuke Matsuoka

The gentle giant of Class 2-D – Daisuke’s towering height may be intimidating to others but he is virtually harmless, with the exception of aiding Nakajo during the bully incident. Daisuke finds class lectures boring and often drifts into a deep slumber, but still manages to maintain the highest grades in Class 2-D. He was previously part of the Basketball Club before quitting in the middle of his second year for unknown reasons.

Stoic, intelligent, and drone – Daisuke actively avoids conflict. Miyako-Sensei forces to Daisuke join the Service Club as part of his extracurricular requirements.

Ai Kamiya

Ai was once the star player of Ibaraki’s Soccer Club before tearing tearing her ACL; the muscles in her knee. Her injury requires Ai to wear a leg brace but she doesn’t seem to mind at all as long as she’s able to walk on her own. Ai is one of the more ecstatic and vocal members of the Service Club. She always brings an upbeat attitude given her situation, never letting anyone under her skin.

Excitable and confident – Ai is the heart of the Service Club. Though she wishes to return to the Soccer Club sooner, Ai grows fond of her new friends in the Service Club that bring her new experiences.
